Basketball Manawatu


Welcome to the Basketball Manawatu 2018 Summer League!
Based on your feedback we are implementing a number of changes to the delivery of the summer league competition. These changes are included in the information below and will be addressed at the compulsory information session, 6-7pm Wednesday 7 February 2018.

VENUE: Central Energy Trust Arena, in the B&M and Ballroom
STARTING NIGHT: Wednesday 14 February 2018
FINAL NIGHT: Wednesday 11 April 2018 (No Finals)

Basketball Manawatu will supply basketballs for warm ups & games.

As per Central Energy Trust Arena Regular User Agreement

1. All team entries must be received via the online registrations portal by 5pm on Wednesday 7 February in order to be included in the competition draw.
Any special requests must be submitted at this time as no changes to the draw will be permitted (e.g. advise availability for late / early games or duty or games).
2. Teams must register a minimum of 8 players, each player is registered team members are required to complete an individual
3. If there are not enough teams registered for each grade Basketball Manawatu will place teams into a competition.
4. All teams must have at least one representative attend the compulsory information session from
6-7pm, Wednesday the 7th of February. This session will include the introduction of the Zero Tolerance Policy, Score Bench / Glory League Training and Referee rules session (7-8pm).

1. $60.00 per team per night – this fee increase covers the cost of rostering paid referees. Basketball Manawatu have Eftpos available. NO PAY NO PLAY. Internet Banking is also available for teams who may wish to pay in advance.

2. Teams/players with fees outstanding from Basketball Manawatu Competitions and Representative teams will not be eligible to play, until fully paid up.
1. Game times will be 6.00pm, 7.00pm and 8.00pm (this is dependant on the number of teams entered).
2. Teams must have five (5) players on the court and a scorer in place at the start of the game, if they do not have five (5) players and a scorer the game will be defaulted.
3. Teams unable to attend their game in any given week must advise Basketball Manawatu of their default by telephone or email before Tuesday 5pm of the playing week.

1. Hats, loose jewellery, watches and long fingernails are NOT permitted.
2. Players must be wearing shoes, preferably ones that lace up.
3. Each team must have players in the same coloured top with number that are visible for scorebench to see, this is for Glory League purposes.

1. FIBA rules will apply, there will be no 24 second shot clock.
2. Games will comprise of 4 quarters of 12-minute running clock. There will be 1 minute between quarters and half-time breaks.
3. There is NO timeouts in this league.
4. Rolling substitutions will be allowed, subs must happen when the ball is out of bounds.
5. As per FIBA rules, the games video will not be reviewed regarding missed points. “Videos, films, pictures or any equipment, visual, electronic, digital or otherwise, may be used to determine responsibility in matters of discipline or for educational (training) purposes only after the game has ended”. C-Protest Procedures C.4

To ensure an ongoing safe and enjoyable playing environment for all players, officials, parents and spectators, Basketball Manawatu will implement a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy for Sport Rage.

The implementation of this policy is aimed at eliminating poor behaviour and rebuilding a culture of supportive and rewarding behaviour to further encourage and strengthen our sport in general as we strive to make Basketball the sport of choice in the Manawatu.

This policy will supplement the following current codes of conduct;

Once finalised the policy will be forward to all registered teams prior to Wednesday 7 February.
All players are required to accept the Zero Tolerance Policy and Basketball Manawatu Player Behaviour Code of Conduct via the online portal, prior to taking the court.
